Flee, Thou Matadors! pretty close to a toss-up Wendy & Betsy probably my two least favourite songs on the record, though I still like both Winter Solstice another really close race New Wine, New Skins
Oh you guys. NW, NS is amazing as is this entire album, but Michael feels like the moment the entire band’s discography has been building toward. In the words of Bartok the Bat from the hit 1997 animated film Anastasia, “This can only end in tears.”
Current Totals: Flee, Thou Matadors! - 6 Another Head For Hydra - 6 Wendy & Betsy - 12 Break On Through (To The Other Side) [pt. 2] - 0 Tortoises All The Way Down - 9 Winter Solstice - 3 Michael, Row Your Boat Ashore - 3 New Wine, New Skins - 9
Another [Vote] For Hydra – Flee is pretty good, but I don't really like the chorus. Wendy & Betsy – No contest. Tortoises All the Way Down – Winter Solstice is also very good, but the ending of Tortoises puts it over the top for me. Michael, Row Your Boat Ashore – Again, the ending gives this one the edge for me.
Counterpoint: King of Spain and Queen of Portugal. King of Spain and Queen of Portugal. King of Spain and Queen of Portugal. King of Spain and Queen of Portugal.
Counter counterpoint: “Ever felt like Noah on an overcast day? David, take down your harp and play.” But I agree with your vote. I voted for Hydra too.
I like the rest of the song, and the part you quoted, but it's really just that that ruins it for me. I think the melody is weak/annoying and the vocals are lacking there too.
I think that was my least favorite moment and song on the album first few listens. I don’t know what changed my mind. I think it’s that the song is more or less about him going crazy and the mindless repetition amplifies it.
Heh fair point, that part actually took me out of the song for a while. But unfortunately there’s no part of hydra I love
1) Another Head For Hydra 2) Wendy & Betsy 3) Tortoises All The Way Down 4) Michael, Row Your Boat Ashore Ah man, I had a hard time with that last one. Every song on this album is excellent.
