Spoiler alert: No matter what happens, I'll be voting for all the winners of this round in the next round too. Ha.
Unpopular opinion - I fuckin love this record. I know it is the ugly step child of their discography and even the band itself doesn't look upon it fondly. But this album was so important to me during that summer this came out for reasons I wont get into but I have a deep emotional connection with this record and think it's a great release. The King Beetle on A Coconut Estate Every Thought A Thought of You Bullet to Binary (part two)
All 3 of these are tough choices, but I have to go with: The Fox, the Crow, and the Cookie Every Thought a Thought of You Cattail Down
Round One Final Totals: The King Beetle On A Coconut Estate - 9 The Fox, The Crow And The Cookie - 4 A Stick, A Carrot & String - 4 Every Thought A Thought Of You - 9 Cattail Down - 9 Bullet To Binary (Pt. Two) - 4 ------------------------ Round Two: 1) The King Beetle On A Coconut Estate vs. Allah, Allah, Allah 2) Timothy Hay vs. Goodbye, I! 3) Every Thought A Thought Of You vs. The Angel Of Death Came To David's Room 4) Cattail Down vs. Fig With A Bellyache
The King Beetle On A Coconut Estate I've gone with The King Beetle On A Coconut Estate despite having a soft spot for Allah, Allah, Allah. Again, I think the overall story and construction of the former song leads to an epic atmosphere. Timothy Hay These are actually my two favourite songs from this album. I love the two stories that are told in Goodbye, I! and then the end is brilliant. However, the end of Timothy Hay contains one of my favourite mewithoutYou moments. I love that Aaron gives God a female and motherly identity: "We broke the news to mom we found a better mom we called G-d, which she took quite well". We then get the repeated "What a beautiful G-d, what a beautiful G-d, what a beautiful G-d there must be!". It's a favourite mewithoutYou moment because whenever I've seen them play live has been an overwhelming, wonderful and unifying coming together of many people of different beliefs (and no beliefs) to sing together. I just love that. The first time I was in the middle (and still am, haha) of a period of spiritual questioning and everyone was singing so loudly and together that it moved me deep within me. Every Thought A Thought Of You No contest here. Every Thought is lyrically brilliant, especially compared to David. Cattail Down Fig With A Bellyache is the only mewithoutYou song that I don't always enjoy musically. The lyrics are a hell of a ride though! Got to go with Cattail Down.
The King Beetle On A Coconut Estate Goodbye, I! Timothy Hay is hands-down one of my favourite songs to see them play live. The way it starts out so sparse and simple and builds to a sing-along outro is just a joy and I'm so happy that they've played it every time I've seen them. But day-to-day, listening to the album, Goodbye, I is an incredible song. Plus, the first time I saw them play live they played the first verse of Goodbye, I, then Paper Hanger, then the last verse to Goodbye, I and I will treasure that forever. The Angel Of Death Came To David's Room one of the things I love about it's all crazy is how it captures the essence of those big-sounding mwY moments without utilizing their usual techniques for doing so (Aaron's shouting, louder instrumentation). Angel of Death is one of the best examples of this - the end/outro is so epic. Cattail Down
1) The King Beetle On A Coconut Estate 2) Timothy Hay 3) The Angel Of Death Came To David's Room 4) Cattail Down Timothy Hay vs. Goodbye is really tough

The tortoise turned and smiled with a peacefulness which proves that there's a movement in our stillness and however much we move we're bound to stand completely still.
Lol i knew I’d be that guy. I just always have liked the arrangement in that song, and the weird reckoning with his sexuality that AW walks through. It’s a weird song, and if ‘it’s all crazy ...’ is one’s least favorite album, it probably signifies everything wrong with it to them. But I’ve always thought it was really fun and weird.
