Catch For Us the Foxes is probably a #4 mwY album for me (behind Brother, Sister, [Untitled], and Pale Horses), but January 1979 may honestly be my #1 mwY song.
January 1979 wins the Catch For Us The Foxes bracket! Final Totals: My Exit, Unfair - 9 January 1979 - 12 Brother, Sister is coming up next!

Messes Of Men O, Porcupine A Glass Can Only Spill What It Contains Nice And Blue (Pt. Two) In A Sweater Poorly Knit it sucks that my two favs (Wolf and N&B2) are up against each other in round one.
1) Messes Of Men 2) O, Porcupine 3) A Glass Can Only Spill What It Contains 4) Wolf Am I! (And Shadow) 5) In A Sweater Poorly Knit
Messes of Men O, Porcupine In a Market Dimly Lit (hardest choice for me) Wolf Am I! (And Shadow) In a Sweater Poorly Knit This could have been much worse, but I love The Sun & the Moon and I’m bummed that it will most certainly go out the first round. Favorite album ever.
Surprised that January 1979 won to be honest. It's a great song (it's mewithoutYou, so obviously!) but seems one of their more conventional songs. I love Brother, Sister. It came out the day after my birthday in 2006 and it's still my all time favourite release from them. Looking forward to discussing it with you all. Messes Of Men Got to go with the opener here. We're introduced to a key thematic concept in mewithoutYou lyrics: I do not exist. I love that this line bookends the release. There's also some of the most vivid imagery throughout, combined with one of my favourite lines in their discography: "If ever you come near I'll hold up high a mirror / Lord, I could never show you anything as beautiful as you". I feel sorry for The Sun & The Moon though because I love the overall sound and this song has probably grown on me the most on the release. It's a moving track. O, Porcupine Easy choice. I love Jeremy Enigk's contribution and I love the lyrics. This was my joint favourite upon release. Also, I'd never heard anything like the "shhh.... listen to it" bit and that's just an iconic mewithoutYou moment. In A Market Dimly Lit Brutal. I've gone with In A Market as I like the more aggressive parts. Nice And Blue (Pt. Two) Going with Nice & Blue here because I love the music video and it's just an all round solid track with a great, emotive end, but honestly there's nothing between them. And honestly, if this line in Wolf Am I wasn't written for 2019 Trump America and Brexit UK then I don't know what was: "The whole material world seems to me like a newspaper headline / It explicitly demands your attention and it may even contain some truth... but what's really going on here?" In A Sweater Poorly Knit This is my most listened to mewithoutYou song and it's still incredible. I remember first hearing it on a video from Cornerstone 2006 before the album came out and it took my breath away. I love Timbre on the harp (I don't know many other harpists but she's still my favourite). I love the way the lyrics repeat at the end. I love the lyrics. This is a perfect song and a perfect way to close the album.
Messes Of Men (brutal) O, Porcupine A Glass Can Only Spill What It Contains (brutal x2) Nice And Blue (Pt. Two) (brutal x3) In A Sweater Poorly Knit
Messes Of Men O, Porcupine A Glass Can Only Spill What It Contains Wolf Am I! (And Shadow) In A Sweater Poorly Knit
Messes Of Men O, Porcupine A Glass Can Only Spill What It Contains Wolf Am I! (And Shadow) In A Sweater Poorly Knit
I mentioned this in the mwY thread, but first time I heard that bit I audibly laughed, not because it was funny, but because it was so freaking awesome. What kind of band just stops the song midway through as PART of the song and makes it work?
1) Messes of Men 2) O, Porcupine 3) In A Market Dimly Lit 4) Nice And Blue (Pt. Two) 5) In A Sweater Poorly Knit
Messes of Men O Porcupine Glass Can Only Spill What It Contains Wolf Am I! (And Shadow) In a Sweater Poorly Knit
This is probably my favourite album of all time. So this should be torturous fun. Messes of Men I love the percussion and groove of Sun and Moon so so much, but since this was my first mwY album, Messes of Men was the my first mwY song. So. O, Porcupine Most tracks would have a hard time knocking O, Porcupine out for me, since it's one of my favourites. Imagine it's hard to handle the Spider trilogy in a bracket...maybe combining them into one track? A Glass Can Only Spill What It Contains These are pretty even, pretty much a coin-toss Nice and Blue, Part Two In a Sweater Poorly Knit
I kinda figured that the Spider tracks wouldn’t get any votes, but I really didn’t know how else to handle them.
1) Messes Of Men 2) O, Porcupine 3) In A Market Dimly Lit 4) Nice And Blue (Pt. Two) 5) In A Sweater Poorly Knit
My favourite is Orange Spider. Would have voted for that one if they'd met each other but luck of the draw really! Think you've handled them just fine, even combining them together wouldn't have made much difference.
