I like the idea that there are two possibilities and it's up for you to decide.....the problem is there's too many inconsistencies in both scenarios. If you believe the kid's story, then that doesn't explain why he was acting like the father around Ruth in episode 7, why he was making those soap carvings, why he was purposely causing those riots, why he turned into that demon looking thing in the woods, and why he gave that evil grin in the end. If you believe that the kid truly is a demon, then that means we have no explanation as to where Henry disappeared to when he was kid, what the sound in the woods truly is and why he wants to get to the schisma so desperately. Also if he had the ability to make people do all those violent things, then why couldn't he just control Henry to come to the woods with him...or let him out of the cell? The more I think about it the more of a mess I realize this ending was. Plus it makes me really mad if they're trying to say an entire episode of the show (episode 9) was not real.
I could have misread how they set it up, but in support of the kid's story in relation to all the riots and violence that followed him wherever he went, they had a few nods to it being inadvertent, like he obviously caused it, but not on purpose. Just him being there in that version of the world where he wasnt supposed to be led to the violence, like a glitch of sorts. Like when he got put into the cell with the inmate who was obviously supposed to kill him, his comments of " I wouldn't do that if I were you " or whatever it was he said could legitimately be taken as a warning and not a threat. As for the demon transformation in the woods, we are seeing that from Henry's perspective who might not be a reliable narrator at that point, maybe hes seeing what he wants to see. Or it's just more interdimensional glitchery.
Is it the same storyline or is it something new? Kinda hoping for a step in a different direction. Edit - nvmd just remembered we spoke about it being an anthology show a page or two back. Hoping this season feels a little more coherent. There was a lot of technical and thematic elements i loved last season but I think the writers went batshit and threw everything at the wall for episodes 9-10. I dont even need next season to be less surreal- just make it all consistent at least.
Started season 2 today. Last five minutes of the first episode are insane. Love the lead actress as Annie. Had no idea Tim Robbins is in this too, and his character is amazing. No he’s not Andy Dufresne
Some of this season is wayyyy darker than I’d expected. Makes it a bit hard to binge. I think I’m more captivated than in season one though.
Was not expecting that in this newest episode holy smokes. So thats why the KID was locked up in S1. Mind fuckin blown
