Whoaaaa just caught up on episode 4.

I’m a pleb so am I right that the creepy dude was possessing / controlling / speaking through the guard?

 

We don't know for sure, but I'm guessing no and that was just another part of Castle Rock's influence, especially since it had been building with the fact that he felt Deaver was giving up on the case. If The Kid is in fact evil, it's possible his proximity to him caused him to act of his evil urges, but I don't think it was a case of straight up possession.

Damn this show is so good, last scene this week was fucking tense!

 

Do I need to have read all the Castle Rock books to really appreciate this show and/or will it spoil them? I've only read Needful Things and Cujo

 

You'll definitely be fine. It's an original story that takes place after the events of any of the books and a lot of the references are more just fun easter egg stuff. Funny enough I feel like Needful and Cujo have probably been referenced the most, Needful really dug into the locations in Castle Rock so like the bar and shit are from there.

Knew it was just a matter of time until we got some Dark Tower connections

 

I was kind of indifferent on the last two but the newest episode is right up my alley. Starting to really get those Lost and The Leftovers vibes.

 

Anyone second this claim? If true, I'm in!

 

The last episode introduced "schisma", "voice of God" and Filter Chambers. If any of that even remotely piques your interest - get on board.

Wow, watched 5 last night and whoever brought up The Leftovers is right. Also getting a Twin Peaks vibe during certain scenes. Truly enjoying this show.

they really went all Bojack Horseman - Time's Arrow this ep and I fucking loved it

 

Holy shit that was a perfect hour of tv. Best episode yet.

Episode 7 is my favorite so far. Really became Ruth (and all her confusion) for the whole thing. Spacek, wow!

 

So is Ruth really traveling through time? I’m kinda confused what the chess pieces mean and if she is just remembering other times or if she is literally traveling to them?

 

I think it's really just a way to visually represent what Alzheimers is doing to her and the ways she's trying not to forget. So more or less we're seeing her memories.
