Yeah there’s some more interesting drumming on here for sure. No knock on Joe because I think he always just served the songs first and stopped there, but you can tell Justin makes his voice heard a couple of times throughout the album, most notably on Wildblood
Talking In Circles set me up to think this may not flow as well as prior Caspian records due to a more individualistic song approach but, man, it flows, very nicely gonna make it to my local indie record shop tomorrow to get the exclusive variant
Wildblood live is something I need to experience big time. I've listened a few times today driving to and from work and there is a lot to love. If anything, I would say Nostalgist is really beautiful but I found myself waiting for an explosion of that wall of sound and then it just fades out..I feel like they could have used that restraint on another song as opposed to that one but the vocals on this are great and this seems like it should overtake the last album for me, however I don't think it will surpass Waking Season for me due to some very special listening experiences I had with that album and it's overall meaning to me but who knows
I see they are coming to the Sinclair which is my favorite venue sound wise so I think I’m gonna have to check it out (alone, no friends who listen to this kind of music lol)
Seems they're playing London August 19th... which just so happens to be around the time ArcTanGent 2020 takes place.
Can we talk about how incredible Yip's production on this is? Honestly might be the best thing he's done.
Yeah he really knocked it out of the park on this. My only complaint is that I wish Jani’s bass had a tiny bit more bite on Collapser but that’s it. The drums sound incredible.
