Onsra could be on an NBC Sports promo and Collapser is wild, just mean. Ishmael is really good too, it was great live.
Absolutely beautiful record. Already have three listens. This may be their best record. The run from “Division Blues” to “Ishmael” is perfect. Devastating, heartbreaking, yet specs of light finding their way through. It’ll be hard listening to anything else, but this over the next few weeks.
Woke up early before work to give this a listen. Wildblood, Ishmael, On Circles are the standouts so far. And Collapser, my god.
I’ve always preferred their less heavy stuff but jumping right into Wildblood this is fucking huge and a perfect balance of all they do well
If there's one small complaint I have it's that I wish one more of the songs (prob either Division Blues or Ishmael) would've held back a bit more instead of going the more formulaic build build build route. The first couple minutes of both songs are just heavenly and I didn't want those parts to end.
Hot take: I think Nostalgist is an incredibly weak track on an album full of incredibly strong ones. Kyle's vocals feel so bored and uninspired in the song and the track doesn't feel right in terms of album pacing. The run from Division to Circles on Circles though, WHEW
Aw man I love Nostalgist. I had never really paid much attention to this band, but I'm a big Will Yip and PBTT fan so I decided to check this out, and I love it. Already listened through 3 times. I'll def go back and check out their previous albums soon.
I’d personally go with Waking Season (obviously) followed by Dust and Disquiet and then dig into their earlier stuff.
Same. This is a band that has been in a three album creative peak. Four Trees and Tertia are great albums, but Waking, Dust, and Circles (so far) are home runs. Waking feels like when they started to branch out and experiment more, which has really worked.
