I love that they did this for the album and am loving the new songs so far. Also, this was the best vinyl rollout release I've personally experienced in a while - announced last week and it's in my hands yesterday, truly wonderful. However, the packaging leaves a lot to be desired. Two record sleeves with only a clear plastic sleeve to house them in, with no spine to indicate what it is when on the shelf
Out for delivery right now. Excited to take in the new listening experience. I took a night walk down to the beach when the album first came out. That was lovely. No mobile turntable for me!
I didn't mind the cost because this is my first Caspian vinyl and I love the band / album, but yeah, I'm not stoked about the packaging. The PVC sleeve has a flap on top that was sealed, so after opening it, it's just gunky there and is not great when taking the record sleeves in and out. Guess I need to figure out if I can clean it off somehow, but yeah, I don't get what they were going for here.
The new track arrangement works really well. Kind of wish this was what they released in the first place.
The definitive version of Nagoya, finally out in the world for everyone to hear. I had no idea when this would happen. We made it.
The three newer songs are all incredible and elevate this record even further. Even Barfly, originally a b-side, absolutely hits in this context. Fuck yes.
Yeah I really needed this at the moment. They have a knack for surprise releasing music when I could use it the most, did the same thing with Castles High, Marble Bright.
This is awesome, but it's gonna take me a couple listens to get used to where Wildblood is now though, that's such an iconic album opener imo
That's where I'm at too. I really like the additional songs but hearing wildblood at that spot is just different.
It's tough because Nagoya really is a compelling opener, and I don't know where else I'd put it. But yeah, Wildblood at #7 is different. Not bad. It's just gonna take a few listens.
If anything throws me off, it’s the transitions from the original sequencing that are still present in this one, but jarringly cut off by transitioning into a different song now. This was apparent to me from Nostalgist to Collapser to Barfly and from Onsra to Ishmael
I had no idea this released on streaming last week! This is the first time I've heard the new tracks; Nagoya just blew my socks off.
