Started a weekend gig to make some extra money delivering meals for a meal service near me. First day was today so I did a discog run (minus the EPs). Was a very good choice. Collider is my second favorite album of theirs, easily.
There's way too much talk about if self titled is good or not (it's not), that we always fail to discuss how great Cycles and Collider are
Cycles is also awesome. Honestly, every record they've put out is good (S/T) to great (the other three).
There's some real good songs on S/T, but the clunkers are... clunkers. The highs on Collider hit more for me than on Cycles, but I like that album a lot, too.
Collider is my number 2. Cycles is my number 1, mainly bc of the memories tied to it. And Conventional Friend is my favorite Cartel song. Banger.
So 2026 will bring us new albums from The Ataris, Saosin and now Cartel. Taking bets on the next 00s band to do the same. From Autumn To Ashes? (Anberlin with Matty oop)
Luckie st feels like it’s twice as fast but it’s roughly the same length as the original chroma version. Ransom version is like 10 seconds longer lol
I always preferred the tempo of the Ransom version but understood the decision to speed it up on Chroma.
Holy shit, Luckie St. sounds like an entirely new song to me. What a surprise, I absolutely love this.
Both singles are a little sanitized for my taste. Strong vocal compression and everything sounds snapped to tempo. Might have more energy, but does it have the feeling?
