from what Will said, it’s all because Sony won’t let them press the OG on vinyl again without them having to pay a lot for it. Will said he didn’t know, but sometime next year
I'm like Jason. 99.9% of the time, re-recordings never do it for me. But Artist In The Ambulance gave me hope, because that sucker is leaps and bounds above the original imo. So I'm curious!
Do we know if Cartel is re-recording it because of rights issues or for artistic reasons? I think that's pretty important for expectations. Usually if someone is re-recording for rights reasons (a-la Taylor's Versions) they are going to want it to sound pretty similar to the original to capture the streaming revenue, but if they want to celebrate the release with a re-recording for other reasons, then I have more hope that it could be fun and interesting
I think it’s natural to make small changes. On one of the re-recordings podcasts from the ringer Nathan said that it’s common for musicians to slightly play a certain part different either because they couldn’t nail it at the time of recording or through live performances they found a better solution.
I'd think there's at least gotta be some changes to the sound given that they don't have the same members they once did. Will played guitar on the original and he's been playing bass for the last 15 years or so now.
So that guy was on the Holiday From Real Cruise and I talked to him about people commenting on his height haha his name is Chris.
I was today years old when I realized every Cartel album starts with C. Was that intentional? It has to be, right?
I listened to this album the other day on streaming and when this song came on, it really threw me off. Maybe it’s nostalgia but the new version lost a lot of the feel of the first song
With Cartel on Warped Tour, I really hope they don't do a similar WWWY Fest set and mix it up with other songs from ST and Cycles. Would lose it if we got 27 Steps or Conventional Friend.
Probably just videos from when they re-recorded Chroma. Likely leading up to the vinyl order for that and announcing the Chroma tour.
