Was thinking about the Wax Mage pressing and had it in my cart until I realised it was $99 ($125 shipped to England) for a (5?) song EP. The vinyl scene is becoming very shallow recently. Don’t get me wrong I like a novelty pressing but some people seem to shun black vinyl altogether and be charging ridiculous amounts for pressings. I realise that’s a bit of hypocrisy as I looked into buying it but there you go. I appreciate the art, just feel like that’s more important than the actual playing of vinyl.
I had to go look to see what you were saying, and couldn't believe it's already sold out. That is an insane amount of money to drop out of nowhere on an EP I never listen to, but... if Saosin did something with Translating the Name like that, I'd throw my card at the screen. Different strokes, though - it's all a game.
The Wax Mage sold out in seconds so no matter how you feel about it, you probably wouldnt have scored on it anyways.
Pressing actual money into a record is one of the more wild concepts I’ve heard of, $99 is a lot but especially with only 25 made I actually don’t think that’s unreasonable at all. If I didn’t already own this I may have gone for that
As do I! I heard a semi-reliable rumor earlier this year that Field Day Records may do it – the same label that did Chroma years ago, as well as the Ocean Avenue repress this year. Fingers crossed!
https://store.fielddayrecords.com/products/664971-cartel-chroma They're all sold out, but this was a super rad repress.
