I can't take these songs any more. I need an album of this. I know friday but still. i feel these songs would work even better with context.
I feel like some people won't like this because it's not loaded with huge pop songs - an expectation clearly set by her first collaboration with Danny. But this record is so cool and weird and experimental, I kinda can't believe this is a "major label pop album". Chairlift only released their last album like 3.5 years ago but I feel like I've been waiting for this forever, so happy to finally have another full project from here. And even happier that it's this.
idk if huge is the right word for these songs, but they are definitely POP, and absolutely arresting If it makes sense, it seems like they're huge by how insular they are and how much they consume the tight space they occupy
Definitely, I get it. I feel like the sheer power of her voice and Danny's experience in making hyper-pop songs paired with their ambient and classical influences has created this incredible synthesis of huge/soaring/"epic" and intimacy.
