Both of these are really good (shocking!) I like “Ocean of Tears” a little more off the first few listens, probably because it’s more immediate and less ethereal. “Door” is still my easy favorite though.
Yeah after hearing both, Parachute definitely seems like a track that will do more for me within the context of a record. Still reeeally pretty though
According to the Pitchfork news post, album is called Pang and will be out in the fall. No release date yet though.
I think “Parachute” might actually be the closer. Caroline said somewhere (I think the Vogue piece) that “Door” is the penultimate track and there’s definitely threads from “Parachute” at the end of that song. I haven’t played them back to back to see if they line up, but it’s a theory!
I want to like these songs more than I do. I was hoping for some really big pop songs. These are really pretty, but not tracks I see myself going back to.
Yeah I feel that way too, though I am sure they’ll be great, uh, context songs when listening to the full album.
I thought there would be more big pop songs after she said “Door” was a weird choice as a single, but these two tracks don’t stray too far from that either. All three of these are so incredible though that I don’t even care.
If you’re gonna call a non-Chairlift song the best Chairlift song you better say “Chamakay” But we all know the real best Chairlift song is “Crying in Public”
So good! Moth is just front to back perfect. I actually think the two main singles ("Ch-Ching" and "Romeo") are probably the weakest there.
