beach house is definitely in the CRJ goofy songs camp (Store, LA Hallucinations, Party For One, the Christmas song, etc) but its fun. very different from Western Wind, and I like the choice to put out two songs that sound nothing alike.

 

Don't lump Party for One in with the rest of those lol.

There are a ton of great songs about jacking off. That does not make it silly/goofy like those other songs.

 

It's a song about self love ACTUALLY.

Party for One slaps, Julian rules. Store also rocks. Even her silly goof songs are great. We stan a Queen

 

The fact that First Time and Higher were relegated to b-sides was always criminal to me

 

Songs being left off an album isn’t always indicative of quality. They often just don’t create the flow or complete body of work the artist is looking for

 

I just listened to beach house and I like it and thought the male vocals were fine and kinds cute. The video made me dizzy tho. Didn't expect to see Ian Paget in the video.
