Beach House is iconic

 

ok i just listened to the album again and caught myself thinking it's her best

 

This is pretty good, I really like the back half a lot especially. Beach House really is the only miss for me

 

only song I think I was iffy on first listen was Far Away, felt like I was a bit lost in the arrangement of it (tho I am sure it’ll probably grow on me). Beach House is so fucking fun and the kinda spy movie/surfy vibe to the verses pleases me greatly, I hope people eventually get over the (thematically incredibly funny and fitting imo) male guest vocals. one of my favorite things about Carly is her sly little cheeky sense of humor and that song is maybe the best indicator of it here imo. all the singles work even better in context here tho, and I think this is quite possibly her most consistent full-album-experience.

 

This was fun and I’ll prolly get crucified for saying this, but it was a much better listen than midnights.

 

It was much more immediate. I'll end up liking both equally I'm guessing.

Bought the target version thinking “awesome a bonus track!” then saw the iTunes version has that song AND two others. Swindled!

 

Western Wind works so much better in the context of the album.

 

Second listen standouts were Sideways and Beach House, but wow Loneliest Time just feels like a beautiful timeless song. That in the morning part is so magical. Really good album!

 

you’re right though

 

this is really solid. Not sure if I prefer it over Dedication, but it doesn't reach the impossible highs of Emotion (what can?). First three tracks are back to back huge hits, and I love Go Find Yourself

 

Pleasantly surprised that, for the most part, people aren’t comparing this to Taylor’s new record and are letting it shine as it’s own body of work. I’ve listened twice now and “Bad Thing Twice” is my early favourite. Absolutely love the tone “Surrender My Heart” sets too.

 

This is great.

Very much looking forward to picking/sequencing a new "CRJ Greatest Hits" playlist.

 

Haven’t gotten a chance to listen yet but did get to see her live last night. Incredible set. Surprised at some of the songs that have already been phased out but its still a solid look at her catalog. Highly recommend if she’s in your city and you’re on the fence

i love how she subverts the chorus in Bad Thing Twice by not repeating hiccup and going in a diff direction in the melody. theres like 17 different hooks on that song alone. its such an earworm

 

Very enjoyable first listen here, Go Find Yourself Or Whatever a big standout on first listen of the stuff I haven't heard, what a song

 

I did not love this like I hoped to

 

Swap out Joshua Tree and Beach House for the bonus tracks and this is a 10/10 imo
