How I feel about Joshua Tree is a little more complex. I really like it but the chorus gives me whiplash. I think I dig it though

 

Joshua Tree and Beach House are probably the bottom tier for me on here.

 

i was a little thrown off by "joshua tree" at first but it rules

 

saw her last night. i think talking to yourself went best of the new stuff, everyone was singing and dancing along like it’s been a fan favorite for years. beach house was a highlight too, which kinda surprised me. perfect set list tho, great show, highly recommended seeing her if you can.

 

Waiting for the fulll album to drop but I finally watched the video for the title track and it gave me the same feeling Spotlight from Jessie Ware did back in 2020. A perfect disco pop song and an instant favorite from Carly.

Halfway through and this has been expectedly pretty wonderful so far. Forgot how lovely “Western Wind” is.

one listen down and i think she might have, somehow, topped Emotion. sequencing is so fucking good and this is the best she has ever sounded

currently on the bonus tracks rn. might have to make a separate playlist for these tracks bc i thought i was still listening to the album when Anxious was on lol

The first song on this is GIGANTIC.

This album is GREAT. Miles above Dedicated, which I liked a lot but felt a bit slight in comparison to E•MO•TION.

At this point, she's clearly leaning into the idea of her b-sides being fan favorites because 2 of those are in my top 5 on first listen. "Anxious" in particular sounds like she grabbed a bunch of synths and guitars Hot Fuss-era The Killers.

 

Opener gets this off to a very strong start.

EDIT: Talking to Yourself is becoming one of my favorite pop songs in recent memory.

 

On first listen, this is a lot better than Dedicated. The opening song is a smash.

 

i don't think this album is better than dedicated but dedicated is my preferred crj experience, such a sharp, glassy pop album
