i fucking love this

 

in what way does she sound like a parody to you?

 

I honestly don't find her technical skills or flow to be that great and lyrically a lot of it just sound like jokes thrown in for reactions, not substance

 

Flow is great
Personality is unmatched
Beats are hot

Whole package imo

 

This is way better than I expected it to be.

 

How is that is her skill/flow different from most rappers nowadays though? It really rubs me the wrong way to hear that one of the few women rappers in the game doesn’t “sound” right, there’s history behind statements like that and there are actual (male) parody rappers who still get plenty of respect

 

I don't think he's saying she sounds like a parody because of her gender. While you're right that female rappers are unfortunately taken less seriously, there are also plenty of male rappers I consider to sound like parodies of rappers I enjoy, and they largely copy impressive flows without any substance--just like he ref'd. I personally don't think she sounds like that on this record, but I got that vibe from Bartier Cardi and Motorsport when they first came out.

 

i mean i always thought bodak yellow was basically a migos song but listening to this whole thing she's doing everything they're doing much better

Yeah I think she’s definitely more comparable to Migos and other trap artists than any parody artist. Regardless, I’m not saying Steve was necessarily being sexist, I’m just saying I’ve heard that criticism a lot from sexist people and it’s a bad look.

 

yeah, basically my point. i don't think you can call this a parody when so many big rappers are doing similar things

 

It's not a gender thing, I promise. There are plenty of rappers of both genders that I think sound like parodies of the genre. When I listen to Cardi B, I think her flow sounds off and forced and honestly sloppy. Yes it's not a popular opinion in this thread, but it's how I feel ok?!?!@?!? :)

Possibly. Justin Timberlake sold a little under 300k I think which were mostly physical sales. Hers are definitely going to be from streaming, so who knows. That 500k came in handy so maybe like 650-700 range.
