band of two brothers. frank used to be in Moving Mountains for a little while. This album is fantastic, the ones before, Caravela Forever and Coat of Arms, are also excellent. listen to the album and talk about it here
This has just straight up been on repeat for 3 days now haha. Super good record. Those guitar tones are ridiculously pretty. Color, Apollo, and On Time are my current favorites.
Same for me. Can't stop listening to this bad boy. I've enjoyed all their releases but each one had a distinct sound. This one feels like the most natural progression from the previous, but encompasses each style they've explored. The first song screams early Taking Back Sunday to me, while the next brings to mind Weatherbox. I enjoy the whole album all the way through, but if I were to choose a favorite: Geronimo, probably
I'll just jump in to say it one more time, I also still have it on repeat, and it's the best thing I've heard from them for sure! Obviously it also reminds of Prawn, maybe due to having the same crew in control of the sound (and also I'm sure I hear Tony Clark on the first track - nobody has responded to that so far - so what do you guys think? ;d).
Hmm-- that was the part that distinctly reminded me of TBS in the duel vocals. I think that's just Frank's brother, Stephen who I think does more backing vocals on this album. Could totally be wrong tho
Might be : ) ..there it just sounds so familiar. You're also right with that TBS mellody comparison. If we would go down this road, Frank's vocals remind me a lot of Jeniferever, but in much more upbeat settings.
You know what, I've just got back to their previous material as well, and I think I like it much more than before.
The melodies are buried in the mix, but are sneakily infectious. The production on this album is top notch.
Some of the lyrics on here are very beautiful. This section here strikes me for some reason. Also this one from Apollo:
I read these lyrics right when I was on Carrier haha. Just started the album, really liking the vocals and guitar melodies so far. Man dat bass tone is rockin too
Randomly thought of this exact record like 10 days ago and forgot to get back to it, which I'll do this evening - thanks! ;D
This one feels more fall / winter to me, while Caravela Forever is so distinctly a summer album. I'll throw this one on today as well, why not?
Bumping this thread because I forgot all about it this bands and never checked anything out from them besides Coat of Arms, which is not on Apple Music and is not on bandcamp anymore. Always really liked Frank’s voice in Moving Mountains so I’m listening to Caravela Forever right now and really enjoying Actress. With that said, I wish I could listen to Coat of Arms again. I don’t seem to have it in my library anymore.
Coat of Arms is great, wish it was on streaming, but I think everything since then has been an improvement. Caravela Forever is a perfect summer album.
