Listening to this reminds me of getting into 'Illuminate' for the first time all those years ago Just magical
This is so good and it wasn't even on my radar. I thought I was going to be listening to camp cope this weekend but I haven't been able to throw anything else on now
Starting to really get into the slower* tracks. Lot of texture as they build. Last minute of useful machine goes hard
Yeah there are a lot of gorgeous textures utilized throughout this albums. That's what makes it really exciting for me, even during times when the album is mellow.
Like if this wasn’t put out on a small label, I would say that this record has big crossover appeal. Hope they get some good exposure off it. I was a casual fan before but this is a level up record.
still holding out hope for a 7 something review from pitchfork. sad as it is that still does a lot for bands like this
As point of reference if Foxing got the memey 6.0 and Oso Oso got an 8.3 Best New Music, I predict that Caracara will get a WhoTheFuckKnows.4 out of 10
This album is just beautiful, every day I have a new track stuck in my head. Yesterday it was Monoculture and today Harsh Light.
im missing so many shows that weekend im gone. them, greet death, and i think godspeed falls around then too
Score is about what I expected. Review is weirdly dismissive of the music like the Foxing one, just slightly less so? There were some interesting observations regarding 90s and early 00s pop rock given sophos34’s Gin Blossoms comment earlier, but the reviewer’s through line that the softness to the music equates to Matchbox 20 and The Wallflowers doesn’t work for me. Rock music with pop influences isn’t inherently bad or something to be ashamed of y’all! Good songwriting is good song writing and this has it in spades. Sort of wish to have been a fly on the wall (or Slack channel) where the editorial staff decided that Jade would be The One allowed to get the critical praise in our scene.
