Closing a Door version was updated with better mixes + soundboard quality Can't Cool Me Down (Live) from the Japanese CD release.
I think I finally got my preferred version of this release: - Weightlifters (Digital) - There Must Be More than Blood (Digital) - There Must Be More than Blood (Digital) - There Must Be More than Blood (Digital) - There Must Be More than Blood (Digital) - There Must Be More than Blood (Digital) - There Must Be More than Blood (Digital) - Deadlines (Making a Door More Open) - There Must Be More than Blood (Digital) - Life Worth Missing (Closing a Door)
i think the experiments in this record are cool (ie Hymns, Famous, Etc) and and they make it divisive. but how many records that have come out this year have as many very very good to great songs as this album? Weightlifters, TMBMTB, Life Worth Missing, Deadlines, Martin, Can’t Cool Me Down?!? I mean come on. Insane how high of a bar this band has to clear.
My biggest complaint with this record is that the digital version is not the vinyl version. Life Worth Missing>TMBMTB>Famous closes the album and I won’t hear an argument for any other way.
Will says in this interview that he’s feeling bummed people didn’t receive the album as he expected (not like, physically received but their opinions on the album). I guess he thought people were going to like it more. Conversando por Whatsapp con Will Toledo (Car Seat Headrest) | Binaural
Will makes an interesting point in that interview when he tells the story of his friend's response to MADLO as ""If it was a new band making their debut, this would be a really good record," Looking at it from that perspective makes me appreciate more of the "off" tracks tbh.
Didn’t they release that after CSH posted a cover of one of their songs. What a strange world this is
dang somehow stumbled upon the colored vinyl of this in used bin at record shop. not my favorite of theirs but it's still beyond enjoyable. deadlines also sounds remarkably better on this too.
Threw this on tonight and I still overall enjoy it. It's not my favorite record from them but I personally don't think it's a bad record. Feels like this came out ages ago even though it was only a few months ago. Anyone else still listening?
I spin it now and again. I think based on the various versions of the tracks there was a great album in there, just none of the released versions really unlocked the full potential. So yeah, good but could’ve been great
Have not gone back to the original/release version of this record, but the updated/modified version(s) have stayed in my rotation.
There Must be More Than Blood is still one of my favorite tracks of the year. But there is nothing else on this album for me, regardless of version or various sequences.
very well done. up there as one of the more entertaining bedroom video performances from this dumpster fire year
