Captain, We're Sinking are an emo/rock band known for their darker, emotionally draining take on the genre. Their 2013 effort The Future Is Cancelled is well beloved and considered one of the finest records from this new wave of emo.

Listening now, what a fucking incredible album. Also it's weird to think "Brother" is probably referring to Greg Barnett of Menzingers fame

Love like 5/6 songs on that album an insane amount but don't really care for the rest. It's pretty much just Bobby's songs that I love. Especially "Adultery" and "A Bitter Divorce".

The intro riff to Montreal is the exact same riff as Aside

All I want in life is another Bobby solo album but full band

Listening to TFIC right now and I think it's a high, high watermark for the emo revival. It's the HLNPIT of 2013. Just a stellar, stellar album.

See I think of it more of the OTIP of 2013 moreso than an emo record

Yah OTIP would be a good comparison too as far being "that" kind of album, the fact that Greg and Bobby are brothers probably helps solidify that too.

Still weird that Brother is about Greg and him helping Bobby through his intense depression

Bitter Divorce is a low key contender for my favorite song ever, I want more from these guys so fucking bad

Definitely my favourite song by them. Was my song of the year in 2013.

Relistening to this now, I forgot how much I loved it. The female vocals on Montreal might be one of my favorite touches

Yep yep they released two of the best rock albums this decade.

It's funny how similar yet total opposite their bands are. Both have two lead vocalists, both have genre defining albums that are masterful at storytelling and thematic cohesion, but their approach is different. Menzos use cars and drinking to forget and cigarettes and bank on nostalgia, while CWS are much darker with their themes of depression, isolation, drinking to cope, and religious undertones.

this is why I like CWS a lot more than Menzingers, ha.

and I think the two vocalists thing is why I don't fully love either band.

I like both CWS vocalists a lot, but I think Greg's songs are usually way better thanks tom's. Burn is their best song tho

I like Bobby's stuff way more than any of the other three. I like Greg a lot more than Tom and I probably like Leo less than either of them.

i saw a CWS show without bobby and that was a bummer of a show

I love all four vocalists. Greg is the better singer but Toms songs are usually more interesting structurally. I love Bobbys vocals the best but Leo has a great voice too and he adds some intensity to pivotal moments in that album, like the second verse of Annina or the bridge of The Beers.

Does anyone have a breakdown where I can see who is singing what songs? Also looks like they are writing another lp according to their fb

Adultery, brother, Montreal, lake, and divorce are bobby
Future, beer can, forever, and shoddy workmanship are Leo
    The others are both

Aka, the best songs on the album. Honestly an album full of songs that good would be an all time favorite for me.

I love Leo's songs about equally.

Funny how both Barnett brothers are the favorite vocalists for their respective bands. I love Tom and Leo about the same. Can't imagine either band without two vocalists

I'm not the biggest Menzingers fan but I find those two much closer in quality than CWS. Honestly I don't really like Leo's songs much at all.
