Thought this was just ok. Kinda agree that it's a bit boring and repetitive.

 

I'm surprised this was a single. They've chosen two pretty odd songs for pre release singles, imo

 

into the new song

This is definitely stranger across the board, but I'll be damned if smash 2 isn't one of the catchiest songs they've done

Very jealous of y'all, I thought the song was fantastic! Love how the vocals build

 

I like this about as much as Trying Year, which isn't very much but I don't think it's bad or anything.

 

Smash 2 or cannonless I think. Tfic2 has maybe my favorite part of the record tho...

 

if its the moment im thinking of, or part i guess i should say, then yeah thats what sells it for me haha.

dont mean to DrewB it up ( Drew) but i might like this just as much, maybe even more, than TFIC.

its an early impression for sure, you know who just got back up with me for the review stream, but im very much into this album and what these guys do and this kinda feels like more CWS yknow? idk if they necessarily reinvent themselves on here too much, but they do what they do so well that im just really into it. little more upbeat and you werent kidding about Leo being more prominent, but he really has improved and he sounds less raw and growly, more cleaner like Bobby is in places. all in all its just a really really good record and i cant believe that the Barnett brothers are going to basically be my 1 and 2 for this year as of right now

yep, i get some of that aggression from those EPs on here in spots.

theyre ok. i dont play em much i dont even have em in my library right now but theyre decent

 

I pre-ordered the album and got an MP3 of Trying Year with it, and it sounds a bit better than the quality of the initial stream.

I'm hoping this track will fit a bit better into the context of the album. The first time I heard Montreal I was a bit disappointed, and now it's one of my favorite tracks from TFIC. Time for cautious optimism.

 

Both songs are up on Apple Music and sound pretty good. "Water" certainly sounds better there than in that YouTube stream.

got the hookup, back in business listening to this album :D

they play around with song structures on here a lot. some of the songs eschew a chorus and just build, or are just a stream of conscious verses. Smash 2 kinda reminds me of WYWTB-era TBS in that it feels like they had two different song ideas and just slammed them together to make one.

"Hunting Trip" is another favorite. very emo
