Turnspit and Merit Badge are both good. Haven't heard Distants yet. And if it's a normal Quenchers show, CWS will go on at about 11:45. Later than I'd like too, but I've never seen them before.
Cool, thanks for the info! I've never been to a show there, but I just bought a ticket because if I didn't do it now, I'd end up forgetting and for sure not going.
They're playing a run of shows with The Menzingers in July. So excited to see them come to Kalamazoo.
I'm applying to jobs all over the place so I can't commit on tickets to anything June onwards yet, selfishly would love to find something in Chicago to hit up all the good shows happening June-Riot Fest

classic bands skipping DC/MD for the weird richmond to PA/NJ jump even when i emailed them to book a show lol
This is like the exact opposite of the problem I had when I lived in Virginia. Tours always skipped VA in favor of going from MD/Philly to NC. Now that I'm out of VA, Richmond gets all the smaller to mid-level tours now.
PREMIERE: Captain, We're Sinking share "Water" from new LP Getting some Weatherbox vibes from parts of this. Good job Leo, nailed it
Definitely not the whole way through, but there were moments where I was like "damn that felt like the box"
the area is not very receptive to DIY emo/punk bands, mostly because most of the current promoters just aren't into that stuff. there's a few but there aren't any real consistent spaces/promoters that constantly book these bands like philly or richmond does
That's a shame. Baltimore, MD and DC are where I've seen the majority of my shows. Recher Theatre and Sonar both shut down, I suppose. There's still Ottobar and Rock n' Roll Hotel though!
i'm talking about on a smaller scale than that. like, 100 cap or smaller bars/houses. ottobar/R&R get a bunch of the good mid level stuff but this is definitely smaller than that
That's my initial thought about this track. Everything about this vocally and instrumentally sounds amazing, but something about it sounds compressed like a 128kps MP3 downloaded off of Kazaa back in 2000.
I'm pretty sure it's how the album is going to sound. I thought Trying Year sounded very poorly produced/mastered/whatever. I was hoping it was just the version of the song they put up for streaming, but now that this track sounds the same way... yeah probably the whole album will be like this. On the topic of Water, I never thought I'd say anything even remotely close about any Captain song ever, but to me this was extremely boring and repetitive. And it makes my soul cry a bit to admit that.
