Those dudes are idiots and lame as hell.

 

I tried listening to it and I couldn't get through more than like 5 minutes.

Everything they complained about Brie and her character in the movie could easliy be applied to snarky Iron Man in any of the 83 already existing Marvel movies, but in those movies he's hilarious and fun but in this movie she's annoying or preachy or whatever. And then they criticize her comments outside of the movie but in reality they're basing it more on what lame dickheads extrapolated from a few normal statements than what she actually said.

These dudes have tunnel vision and exemplify what's wrong with this comic book movie culture.

 

thought this was pretty fun. it wasn't my favorite, but the actors were all great. Really enjoyed Carol and Fury's friendship, and Ben Mendelson of course killed it, wouldn't expect any less haha.

I went in expecting to be disgusted by jingoism only to be pleasantly surprised by an subtle anti-imperialist message. How nice.

 

WTF did I just watch…

 

Haven't watched it yet myself but the RLM guys generally don't really like Marvel movies so disliking this one is pretty on-brand for them.

 

They liked Thor: Ragnarok and Infinity War. But when it comes to female-led movies (minus Annihilation), they typically go with the shittiest, hottest take.

 

From the 10 minutes I watched, I got that from them right away.

 

I don't care if they liked the movie itself or not, I haven't even seen it. It's just terrible that they're continuing this inaccurate take down of Brie Larson and her statements that have been misconstrued purposefully for a month or so now.

 

Jay has recommended every one they've reviewed and Mike recommends this one.

 

I like watching some of the people in the videos using damage control. Idk what that says about me, but I find it amusing. I can’t believe people think Disney is lying about the box office. That’s top tier delusional fantasy land.

 

I mean they literally talk in this review about how forgettable and flawed they think a bunch of them are, including specifically mentioning Ant-Man as being a weak movie, but I don't remember the details of all of their reviews off the top of my head. Maybe I'm just thinking of Mike then.

 

I used to think Half in the Bag was a very elaborate satirical take on film analysis before they began beating that belief (and the supposed joke) into the ground, and continually finding even-more-elaborate ways to just be nitpicky, negative, and also have a pretty terrible take on the overall film in question.

I feel like they make a great point towards the end about how this wouldn't have reviewed well as a stand alone film.

They make a few good points that are fair criticism but the bizarre decision to spend the first ten minutes of the actual review breaking down Brie's comments is just strange. They very clearly aren’t on the side of the angry YouTube fanboys, but still came across as really ill-advised tone/language-policing, like "I don't like the way she said what she said." Also I get that part of their schtick is that they hate mainstream film criticism/critics but they know better than to downplay the importance of diversity in criticism. I don't know, it just came across as being unnecessarily "edgy," even for them (and I've been watching their content since like 2010).
