I totally forgot this movie came out until they referenced Red Hulk in Thunderbolts. Crazy that there was an actual Captain America movie this year and Sam still isn't the Cap everyone is talking about

 

What do you mean, you mean in-universe people saying Captain America and meaning Steve Rogers?

Besides not being sure how many people have even said Cap's name, how widespread is the knowledge that Sam accepted the mantle?

I'm not sure what you're expecting.

Even before that film there's a whole cluster of people that just don't want a black Captain America and a whole cluster that won't accept anyone but Chris Evans, and a whole other cluster that wanted Bucky Cap.

And yes, Brave New World was an opportunity to put Sam on the map, and it fumbled the ball, but I don't know how many minds it really would've changed regardless/how many people really give a shit to begin with.
