I’m not sure if this film will have legs. I don’t think the numbers will sink as fast as antman 3, but it won’t have the longevity of Winter Soldier.

i have not seen this and i probably won't so i will spare my snarky comment about comparing this movie to WS (an actual good movie)

but i think people are just way more marvel fatigued now than they were 11 years ago lol. winter soldier came out at arguably the peak of MCU films. just doesnt seem like a fair comparison to this movie even if there are redeemable aspects to it.

I think it’s fair to compare them in some ways. If I have the time later, I’ll write up how both movies essentially have the same plot points for almost the entire movie.

Peak MCU box office was after winter soldier during phase 3. That’s when almost every other movie made over a billion. Winter Soldier was just a great film so people were willing to rewatch it

Winter Soldier was definitely a turning point as far as direction and writing went for the MCU.

I’ve only been skimming the thread so pardon if this has been said but in this universe not only have they confirmed alien existence but they’ve been attacked by them. Witnessed super powered beings and “gods”. And had half of the entire existence wiped away. And all in the span of like 5 years. I’d probably shrug my shoulders but that’s just me

I don't think I'd have no reaction. Maybe more likely to be annoyed, like "what fresh hell is this?"

Honestly at this point I don’t understand why anyone would still be anti-avengers or even want to do petty evil crimes after Thanos, but whatever

not a disaster, but man did it feel like no one was at the wheel for this at many times. one of the worst MCUs, easily

You know this wasn’t well received when House of R couldn’t even hit 2 hours in the deep dive of it

    I do not exist.

I watched this yesterday and was generally entertained. I managed to go completely blind so had no idea about The Leader or Red Hulk. It did feel a bit too much like a sequel to The Incredible Hulk, particularly when you consider that this is at the expense of the significance of having a black Captain America. Overall, considering the diluted post-Endgame Marvel films, this one felt like an improvement. Nice to have a two hour film rather than being excessively long. I even stayed for the post-credits although that just served to remind me that I don’t care at all for anything these so-called Phases have vaguely and confusingly built towards.

I’m amazed you knew this movie was releasing, yet seemingly hadn’t seen a single poster or ad, as Red Hulk was plastered all over those.

    I do not exist.

The funny thing is that the cinema had some Red Hulk imagery on the way in (but not official posters) and I did think ‘why is that Hulk red?’ but clearly having a stupid moment there.

I also saw the poster with the fist against the shield but just assumed it was an alien or monster of some description. Foolish in hindsight.

To be fair I am in the middle of moving house!

'Captain America: Brave New World' Director Breaks Down How the Film Evolved: Reshoots, New Villain and Dealing With Leaks

    Interesting stuff.

    Big takeaways:

    • The reshoots were to ground the film more: redesign costumes, change Leader's look, retool the Serpent Society, etc.
    • The climax was originally the Celestial Island battle but was changed to make it more personal and reflective of Ross.
    • The film originally was going to have a version of the Illuminati; post-credit scene deliberately vague to set this up.
