Actors Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Teyonah Parris Talk ‘Candyman’ Legacy and ‘The Fly’ Influence reviews going live in a few hours
Interesting piece — ‘Candyman’ Director Bernard Rose Details His Unmade Sequel in More Depth Than Ever Before [Exclusive]
Is this film exclusively in theaters this Friday or is going to release online somewhere as well? Not sure if I want to pay to see this in theaters but I’d watch it online.
So Universal is a 45-day window, right? How did Stillwater end up on VOD in like 2 weeks? Is it because Focus also helped release it?
I’m with David Sims on this. It has an interesting angle on its take of Candyman and the character that’s obsessed with him this time around (a black artist living in the yuppie ashes of Cabrini-Green), has some great artistic flourishes, but it is way too overstuffed with ideas that shortchange the main characters in the end. I’m not the biggest fan of the first, but it had a community that felt alive in Cabrini-Green, fantastic production design and Tony Todd was a great pick and horny as hell as Candyman. This is mostly missing that and I feel like that’s a noticeable mistake.
