Some of my initial thoughts on the record - more of the brain dump than anything: The hooks on most of the tracks here don’t hit the highs of the singles. Some of the lyricism doesn’t hit with me. Lines like “I used to smoke cigarettes but I don’t smoke cigarettes anymore” just do not work for me and I feel that way about several creative choices on the record that don’t jive with what I like to see in songwriting. Additionally, the sequencing really hurts this record. Enough explaining right into poured out feels absolutely draining.
some of the lyrics are very corny but i think the delivery sells them. alternately, some of the lyrics on here are pretty damn good imo. feel something, poured out, pretty heavy songs imo
Got into Future Teens new album which led me to Rat Tally which led me here. This album absolutely rules. I’m so mad I missed out on all the release hype during the summer.
I make a "current" playlist on Spotify, which is just songs I'm really into lately for when I'm indecisive. Usually add/remove songs pretty regularly. About five of these songs have stayed in it since release. (Mind yr Own, Weird Florida, Enough Explaining, Poured Out, Let it Ride)
