I think I really love this. Lyrics are kind of crushing me. "Lost" in particular just about made me cry.
was looking for the emo thread to post the pitchfork review but stoked to see a thread already. Probably aoty for me so far. Definitely sound like a more emo female version of smith st. They're from the same little Posion City scene in Melbourne which is thriving pretty well. Camp Cope: Camp Cope Album Review | Pitchfork
An 8.0 from Pitchfork for this tiny little Melbourne band is so phenomenal, entirely deserved though.
I listen to this album daily, sometimes a lot more than that. it depends on how terrible my day is going...
This is very very good. Reminds me of a mix of Hop Along and Mothers. Definitely an AOTY contender for me.
also, have any US labels picked this up in their distro? I really need this on vinyl but can't afford the AUS prices/shipping.
I'd be surprised if someone doesn'tt pick them up over there. I've got the clear with the blue spill and it's on high rotation. Only thing is that the too of the sleeve was slightly ripped which is a shame.
The Camp Cope instagram just followed Side One Dummy, which has already got me excited thinking about the possibility of S1D picking them up and setting up shows for them here in the US.
I'm a pretty big fan of the rock trio sound. clean guitar chords drums and bass.. don't always need leads and riffs to bring me in ha.. they nail that sound pretty well on this
"There's something about truth that makes existence bearable." Is probably the best line of the year so far. Such an incredible album. Hasn't grown stale yet.
I think the last verse of "Stove Lighter" may have my favorite lines, the way Georgia sings them feels so cathartic. And all this time it made sense to me why life was so unfair Because the universe don’t know and the universe don’t care It took years to figure out everyone else had shit on their mind And the darkness that lives inside of me, looks exactly like you sometimes
Yeah that's one of my favourites and I haven't actually been hearing it right. Always thought it was "it took years to figure out everyone else had shit on them" which still makes perfect sense lyrically to me.
