No pool. She just seems pitchy and off key plenty. She’s decent for what she does. I think her vocals are similar to some old school dashboard. I like it overall now that I’ve finished the album. I’m just not blown away at all like many here seem to be which is all good. I watched a video of her playing an acoustic guitar and singing and she also didn’t seem that great on the guitar. I heard more errors than I’d usually hear from an artist getting this much attention.
so yes, i do need to post that tweet this album is about fools like you telling them they can't do the great things they're doing
I’d appreciate you not launching personal attacks on me or insinuating that I am telling anyone they can’t do anything. I fully support the msgs within the lyrics of the album but just because I support the message doesn’t mean I must believe the music in of itself is great. I have been nothing but kind and cordial in this thread. I’d expect to be treated as such in return.
the message in the lyrics is that men shouldn't tell women what they can or can't do you are straight up going against the message of the album ok i'm posting the tweet
I don’t care about her tweet. If anything she just lost my respect. I’m sorry but even children can understand the fact that two wrongs don’t make a right. She doesn’t want to be told she can’t do something because she’s a women but she is going to tell me I can’t do something because I’m a straight white male? Talk about the ultimate in hypocrisy. Also I am not at all judging her as a female singer and I didn’t stereotypically try and compare her to other female singers. In fact I compared her coincidentally to two different male singers whom I respect. I also stand by my repeated request to not launch personal attacks on me. Yes, calling me a fool and acting like my not understanding the hype surrounding this album is somehow an attack on women based on the fact that she’s female is an attack on my character. Some of my favorite artists are women. Some of my favorite authors are women. I have a 3 yr old daughter whom I purposely tell she can be or do anything. I just went with my wife and daughter to the USA Women’s National Soccer team game at the She Believes Cup which supports women. Think twice before deeming it necessary to judge someone based on their gender or orientation.
^You had a chance to take the exit lane to get off the interstate to avoid the black ice. You not only failed to take the exit; you hit the black ice head on and flipped your car. Good job.
if anything, this thread totally justifies the reasoning for georgia posting those tweets in the first hand. this is literally the exact scenario she was talking about in those tweets
I love how Aussie she is. From the first album when she sings "it was pretty grouse" is a good example.
people definitely drive on the highway on black ice, people sometimes don't know when to just stay home
As for your latest post of said extremely relevant tweet. Good for her if she did most of them in one take. That was her choice and it is understandable that many topics are difficult to sing about. It is however childish to put out music into the world and then play victim if anyone doesn’t highly rate your art. Art is subjective and anyone that’s ever put out a song, a book or a movie or acted in a play or painted a piece at an exhibit knows fully well that their art is out there to be taken in by whomever wishes to. You cannot choose your audience and you cannot say that if someone doesn’t like something about your art it is because they are a man. I love music. I love to share my thoughts about music. Now what, I’m not allowed to share my thoughts on any music releases by women? Or am I just not allowed to share my thoughts if my thoughts aren’t 100% positive? I don’t understand these new and awfully strict rules for music listening and reviewing. Fantastic.
we aren't saying you can't criticize, i've already said that the album really isn't my favorite. but it's the tone and the way you do so, a record can still be important and relevant and great even if you don't enjoy it
You can absolutely criticize. The point of the tweet and Shit is that how and what you criticize is important. If you miss the point of the album, you aren't in a place to criticize it.
i still think it's funny that 99% of chorus has no clue your reference with the Shit comment and you do it regularly
You 100% said I can’t criticize. You even shared a tweet saying I need to stop because I’m a cis white male. You even went as far as to infer I was somehow claiming they couldn’t do or aspire to great things when I had already previously stated to each their own. I don’t buy that bc the album covers topics of males telling their band they can’t sell out venues, sexual assault and such that because I’m a man I need to shut up and dribble. Sorry. I agree with the message until you try and say “it’s not for you”. Anyone with a brain knows that for progress you need all people, men and women of all genders and demographics to come together. But let’s segregate more and say, nah not for you, you’re a man so your voice doesn’t matter. I came into this thread looking to talk music and understand the hype. I had no mail-intentions. You decided to insult me and accuse me of sexism. You decided to share a tweet telling me to basically shut up and dribble because I’m a man. Now your saying it was my tone? I use the same tone when reviewing anything. I look at lyrics, production, creativity, vocals, execution, whether or not it’s catchy or has a vibe I like etc etc etc What are we talking about here? Micro-aggressions now? I cannot even believe I’m stuck explaining myself. I’m as far to the progressive left end of the political spectrum as a person can be in America and I have people talking down to me and attacking my right to even be sharing my thoughts in a forum. Whatever. Cool.
Its amazing how defensive people can get when they're told something isn't made for them I'm a white male, I love this record, but it also is very clearly not aimed at me. That tweet is only an attack if you want to perceive it as an attack. It really provided me a lot of insight into the meaning and the message here in as little words as possible.
The tweet didn’t make me defensive. Being attacked in that I was called a fool and told I was acting like they couldn’t succeed because they are women made me defensive. After all, the usual response to a personal attack is defense. I understand having a target audience and her target audience is clearly women who have been through similar events or have faced similar prejudices. I disagree with her for telling men they can’t review the album when she’s attempting to have men stop telling women what they can and can’t do. It makes it look like she’s a hypocrite and doesn’t even understand her own message. That tweet doesn’t phase me though in the least on a personal level other than the fact that I can’t help but think less of the artist. Respect is earned and lost.
