I'm on my first listen. Currently on "The Omen" maybe my expectations were too high but I'm underwhelmed. So far every song is just too slow for me and they all kind of sound the same. Hopefully it grows on me, maybe I just woke up on the wrong side of the bed... edit: Loved the debut, so I just think I was anticipating this a bit too much.
I feel as though the opener set the bar very high for this record. I wasn't a fan of some of the lyricism on the first listen through, but I really need to sit down with the lyric sheet and read it.
Now that I've listened to this 5 times in full, I think I still like the 1st record more. That being said, this is top notch.
It’s a very different record. For me, there’s less of a personal connection but there’s more to admire. Some of the stuff they’re doing branches out further sonically than the debut. I think there’s more variety on this record than people are giving it credit for. But nothing on here will ever impact me the way something like West Side Story has.
Its definitely close to my favorite. The first record took a while to grow on me, so I'll wait before comparing them, but this record is at least on the same level, they've been very solid throughout everything they've released.
This is an amazing record, but I still think their debut takes the cake. Face of God, Animal and Real and UFO Lighter are my favorites as of now.
I've Got You needs more credit. "And you said there's broken links in your brain And I said it's okay, mines exactly the same There's still some things I don't understand Like the casual blindness toward the cruelty of man"
I think what bugs me with I've Got You is it recycles some lyrics and melodies from other CC/Georgia Maq songs.
No West Side Story, Done, Lost Season 1, Footscray Station, Keep Growing, Jet Fuel Can't Melt Steel Beams imo
