from his ama Q: Is Rufus Wainwright an influence? A: I get this comparison every day of my life, but I have no idea what he sounds like cause I've never heard his music and now I'm just avoiding it out of stubbornness
This very quickly went from damn this is instant top 10 of the year for me to 6 to 5 to I could easily see looking back in a few years and seeing this as probably the most significant record of 2024. Has really elevated 3D Country in my mind, too. I wouldn't say Geese is my favorite band or anything, but they (and Cameron solo) are the band I'm most excited to see where the next couple albums go.
Idk the last new album that I was this attached to in like the past 5 years. Really incredible stuff that just keeps opening up for me. Don’t wanna be too hyperbolic but the more I listen the more it reminds me of why I love artists like Arthur Russell or Mark Hollis so much. Really excited to follow him for as long as he continues to make music.
I have seen a lot of shows including a lot of all time greats. Last night was the first time I’ve seen someone so much younger than me that is at that level already literally right now. He’s already so good as it is, and the ceiling on how good this dude could be is so unreal high, I don’t even really know how to say it without walking the line of hyperbole.
Haven’t seen him yet but he feels incredibly special. I get those tingles. The late night performance was one of the best I’ve seen in a long time and this is easily the best record I’ve heard in a couple years. He has an aura about him.
