it's so good. If not for the timing I feel like this would be getting some serious hype between this and the 3d country thread being one page even here is sleeping tho
Gonna bump this thread once a week til people here realize and acknowledge one of the 10 best albums of the year dropped on December 6
Agree, it’s great. I’ve got it in my top 20 I think. I saw where somebody said it kinda reminded them of D’Angelo’s Voodoo, the more I listen to it the more I kinda hear it.
This album and 3D Country have taken over my life the past few weeks lol. This kid’s 22 and he might be my favorite songwriter going right now. His lyrics alone are funny, sad, profound, weird, scary, everything — and his vocal delivery is just consistently captivating. Have a feeling he might be making my favorite music for a long time.
I can't get Love Takes Miles out of my head. I think he does a great job keeping things interesting and just a little weird while still being meaningful who is Nina? is she a real person or is it an Arienette situation?
not that the first two songs aren’t two of the best on the album (they are) but I dare anyone to not be sold on this guy by the time those two piano notes hit at 0:45 of love takes miles Not a bad song on this thing, absolutely owned my december
This album really has its hooks of me and I'm thinking of sending it and going to see him in Chicago on 1/18.
I remember seeing this in the 3D Country thread but forgot about it until the Pitchfork review. It’s veryyyyyy good.
Get whiffs of Spencer Krug, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and Young Jesus, especially the new Young Jesus if people are looking for more contemporary comps.
He was really great tonight in Chicago. Played a stripped back set with just him and a piano and he faced away from the crowd but remarked how strange that was lol. Did most of the album but did not play Nausicaä which I was a bit bummed about. Love Takes Miles and $0 were the highlights for me. Also, I’m pretty sure Jeff Tweedy was watching from the sound booth which I was standing next to.
This record is so phenomenal. He also has a coolness about him, different but not totally unlike, Julian Casablancas. A nonchalance that is really endearing.
