This came out of nowhere! Hugely anticipated follow up from one of the most underrated country artists of the last decade, who last released music in 2020 and most recently helped write five songs on Beyoncé’s COWBOY CARTER.

The album promises to go further down the well of her unique blend of country, folk, left-field pop, and more. Seeing co-writes and production from a murder’s row of folks: Michael Uzowuru, Jeff Bhasker, Ethan Gruska, Tyler Johnson, and even Joni Mitchell(!)

took it for a spin while going for a bike ride this morning. yeah, this is fantastic. wonderful musical/production flourishes (that sax solo on "Look At All The Pretty Girls!") to accompany the songwriting.

she's moving from sound to sound but makes it all cohere incredibly well, especially knowing that she wrote this album for her young daughter. the first half is pretty flawless. I stand by "Everblue" as a song of the year contender and I love "Canyon" and "Wherever You Are" from the newly released songs. need to give the slower back half more listens when I'm not on a bike.

@Craig Manning help me evangelize this!
