Yea after I saw the movie read about the book and it covers something like 20 years after the events of summer of 1983.

Edit: just checked and the book starts off in 1987.

I'll be honest and say that I watched this mainly because of the Sufjan factor but it might be the best movie made in 2017 (that I've seen)

This was pretty fantastic. Felt its length at times, but that’s pretty much the only issue I have with it. The ending was seriously amazing. Also, I’ve heard Sufjan in passing but have pretty much slept on his work. If the songs in the movie are representative of his overall work then I need to check him out.

When you talk of a sequel, do you mean to the book or the movie?

he’s nominated in a category with daniel day-lewis, is it really getting robbed if he does win?

They’re both gonna lose to Gary Oldman, unfortunately

Yeah, the robbed comment is about when Gary "I choke my wife" Oldman wins. I'd be cool with DDL winning

Why is Gary Oldman winning? I thought DDL was like a guaranteed win, especially since it’s his last movie or whatever

Nah, DDL was actually kind of a surprise nomination. Gary Oldman is locked here. If it wasn't him I think Chalamet would be winning.

Oldman has won nearly every precursor award so he's the clear frontrunner

also the narrative that it's his "time" in terms of the career he's had w/o winning yet

(not that I agree w these kinds of narratives whatsoever but it is what it is)

that being said I wouldn't be surprised if DDL won

Timmy would shock me in the best way
