Unfortunately, I don't think they're recording a new album. When they released Sinking Ship they said they were going to release a 'series of singles' but never mentioned an album. Miss this band.
The album "Age of Aquarius" was supposed to come out late last year but there hasn't been any news since a teaser.
Age of Aquarius was a cover song. Their Facebook post when they released Sinking Ship said this: "We are happy to be releasing new music; this time in the form of a series of singles" I hope I'm wrong, But I've yet to see them announce or suggest there'd be an album.
Maybe I am wrong (although i was just going off CAKE's own FB post) but it appears John did this interview in November where he talks about a potential album: John McCrea On CAKE's First New Music Since 2011, Unionizing, Leather Jackets, And More
I could write an epic poem about each of their albums. They are so fucking good but somehow totally overlooked.
“Prolonging the Magic” is probably the best collection of songs in an album they’ve put out. But there are segments of each of their releases that are inescapable of their creativity and warmth.
The only thing I might love more than Cake is reading posts from 5 years ago about the impending arrival of a new Cake album.
Jeez. Fuck the midwest, I guess. Lol. Maybe I'll see if my wife wants to take a roadtrip to the east coast for summer vacation.
Has anyone seen CAKE on this tour? Is there no opener? I don't see any information other than CAKE on my date (Saturday in Cleveland).
Didn’t they say a new album was in the works like 6 years ago whenever the Sinking Ship song was released.
