The very first version of SDRE I ever heard was the intro w/ the "freestyle" tacked onto the end. The album intro fades out, but there is indeed a version where the rap part is a few seconds longer. Then, of course, is the b-side that's actually a full song. I've had that one for awhile. I think I stumbled upon it when the Color Me Badd EP came out. Or the Heartworks EP. I can't recall. edit: I realize my facts are mixed up - I meant, #1 Summer Jam has the extended rap. SDRE (the full version) was on an EP though, pretty sure.

Ok, so blink-182 didn't do a surprise release, but maybe Butch can? I can wait another week or two if necessary.
I doubt it will happen but God I want this thing out to soundtrack my summer. If it dropped anytime in the next six weeks I'd be happy as a kid on Christmas. I hope it's not another six month rollout like AOG (And, just so you know, if you try to pronounce "AOG" it sounds like the noise you make after hitting your head on the coffee table).
A bunch of his Twitter or Instagram comments/hashtags have referenced this being a summer album. No way it doesn't come out sometime this summer, even if it is later in the season like The Spade was.
I'm definitely hopeful. I could see it being a good August album to soundtrack those last pretty days, kind of like that Counting Crows album back in 2014. I'm just impatient. The clips make me think that this is the BW album I've been waiting for.
Okay guys I've had a hard time getting into Butch Walker because there's just so much... Can someone make me like a starter pack playlist?
Listen to Letters first and foremost. After that, it depends, because all his albums have unique feels and styles. It comes down to personal preference, but I'd jump to The Spade next. Very accessible and fun southern-tinged rock and roll.
Currently compiling a "Perfect LP" feature on Butch for Modern Vinyl. A perfect 50-minute approximation of who he is as an artist and his best songs. It's fucking impossible.
It's hard to think of another artist that would have a more stylistically diverse compilation of great tracks than Butch. If you put together cuts from all of his albums, the sounds are all over the map.
Sounds pretty impossible, especially since you have to include pretty much EVERY song off of The Spade
Especially if you include Marvelous 3! There is only going to be one song off The Spade. Unfortunately.
I can't spoil that. But I mean, it's probably my fifth favorite record of his, so there are four that I want to focus on more and I only have like 12 tracks to work with. Makes sense to boil The Spade down to my favorite track, especially since I'd say it's a bit less sonically diverse than something like Sycamore Meadows or Letters.
We must just like different styles from Butch. The Spade is my favourite from him, and then Peachtree Battle next.
