Oh man, you'd never seen him before? Yep, next to Springsteen, I've never seen anyone do a better live show than him. Not really anyone even close, really. He's just brings everything he's got for every show. I'd give the edge to the back half, which is insane considering that opening trio. And he's not playing two of them on tour! At least not yet. He just took it to another level with the choruses on this record. "Can We Just Not Talk About Last Night" and "Spark: Lost" are just immediate sing-alongs. And then "Record Store" just crushes you.
Tour setlist is great, but I do wish he were doing at least one more from Letters. I don't need an old-school "Lights Out" freak-out like the old days – "Uncomfortably Numb" would fit in just fine with the vibe he's going for on this tour. But damn, the 2004/2005 shows where he would rip a solo in "Lights Out" and then rip the strings off his guitar during "Best Thing" were just next level.
Keeps playing Eric Hutchinson's "Easy Street" on mobile. Tried it on the computer on my lunch break and it played the first 3 songs and timed out and started over.
After first listen I still like The Spade better, haha. I need to listen again though when I'm not working at the same time. It deserves my undivided attention.
I watched the LiveNation stream last night. It was fantastic and Butch has never sounded better. It amazes me every time how great he sounds live. The man is so criminally underrated.
That's what I was about to ask, I was out of town. If anyone grabbed the stream, I would be much appreciative.
If I knew how to do that stuff I would have. He played hot girls in good moods before the encore (Record Store) and it was awesome.
Man....... I tried, I really did. I just don't like his voice and his songwriting does absolutely nothing for me.
