Also anyone know when he's been going on? Has it been at about 9?

Why would anyone request Mixtape? Gah.

 

Ahhh, why couldn't the Take Tomorrow have happened on Sunday, raaaar. First time in awhile i didn't go to both shows of a run and I am paying for itttt.

 

He played "My Way" tonight apparently

 

Goddamn, what a show. "Bed on Fire" live is pretty much a religious experience at this point. Didn't realize how much I missed Butch shows!

Yeah, I was a little bummed that we only got 4 requests and one of them was Mixtape. But Ships and Father's Day were cool. The guy who requested Father's Day must have recently lost his dad, Butch came down and hugged him after playing it, they were both pretty emotional. Took him a few beats to regain his composure and get back into the show.

Of course I was right next to a group of people having a fairly loud, jovial conversation while Butch was playing the song solo and holding back tears. Super fucking uncomfortable. Read the room, people!

 

I saw him do that song shortly after the record came out and, yep, assholes talking loudly and laughing. He stopped playing and just stared daggers at them. People fucking suck.

 

Lol what is your issue with “Mixtape”?

 

Mixtape is great?

 

Totally fine song, just has no place in a request set. Same thing you said about "Don't Move." He's willing to basically play anything in this block, from like 10 albums of great songs, and people request the One Tree Hill song. Just don't get it!

 

Yeah I love Mixtape, I've just seen him play it multiple times. Was hoping for some deeper cuts in the request block that I haven't seen him perform before.

 

Yeah, I assume if you're going to see Butch in 2022 you're about more than the "hits" so let 'er rip with wild stuff in the request section.

 

The thing with “Mixtape” is that he largely dropped it from the setlist a decade ago. I think I’ve gotten that one maybe twice out of 10+ shows? Versus “Don’t Move,” “Maybe It’s Just Me,” “Uncomfortably Numb,” “Best Thing,” etc that I’ve gotten probably 6-7 times each (or more…think he’s played “Maybe” at every show I’ve been to.)

 

For the record, that song still wouldn’t be anywhere near my request list, but I’d be less exasperated for someone to request it than a solid handful of other past staples.

 

I will be requesting "Get Over" or "Record Store" – haven't decided which one.
