Listening to it on Spotify. Actually can't believe Busted have actually released a new album. Been wanting this for years haha.
Yeah. It was a weird radio edit. And they preceded it by playing a clip of Year 3000 and being like "Remember these guys?!"
Two weeks later than most of you but finally!!!! Time to take dog for a walk and have this in my ears. Very excited
Early days to judge but currently a 7/10 album for me. Wouldn't rank it as high as their previous efforts but it's a nice groovy musical transition compared to their traditional 'jumpy' sound. If you want the old Busted then the McBusted album has that. But I hope the 80s synthpop influence (and heavy Future Boy lyrical tropes) is a one-off and they try something else for album 4 - *cough* guitars *cough*.
Twitter is going crazy for this record and I love it. @Schooner - let us know what you think once you've heard it!
As someone who just started listening to them recently so doesn't have any nostalgia attached to their old work, this is easily their best album imo. A lot of their older stuff was catchy, but a lot of it was VERY much a product of its time and doesn't hold up well for me.
I still like APFE more but this never had a chance of matching that for me. I like this more than their debut though and I'd probably put it above Long Road Home too.
A pretty good interview with the band in the Guardian today. There's a funny little bit at the end where the band look at criticisms of the Who's David lyrics for possibly having misogynistic undertones, and James gets really defensive .
I'm really glad people like it. I think there's a lot of people out there who would like this, or at least parts of it, who weren't fans of them before.
Where did you see "Gone" as a bonus track? Are we talking about James solo song "Gone"? As the only bonus track I've seen is the Japan only one called "Beautiful Mess". Would love to hear either with a little search. My favourite track has to be Thinking Of You or Those Days Are Gone so far!
Beautiful Mess is Gone with all new lyrics. Someone put a crappy clip on twitter - stops at the bridge but it sounds incredible
I've heard the clip now after putting my original comment up. It sounds like they sped up the original backing track for gone and sung new lyrics over it. I'm not sure which one I prefer, I was a fan of the original.
This is the worst album I've heard all year. Holy fuck I feel like this is worse than Trump being elected. This is horrific. How did this get made?
This is the rest of the world's punishment for Brexit isn't it? The worst album of the year? Holy fuck I can't stop laughing at these songs. It's like third graders wanted to rip off good bands and literally shit in their pants pants instead and called it an album. This is so fucking bad.
A band tries to grab the 80's vibe every other artist in the last five years did better and ends up looking like the disco band that started in 1993. Hahhahahahaa. What an absolute embarrassment.
God damn that was the best hour of comedy I've had in weeks. Wow. That was at least hilarious to listen to.
