Heard a clip of the album version and it is different but sounds almost exactly the same, haha. I think the music is clearer in the album version but I like Charlie's and Matt's vocals more in the live version. Still think they all sounded better in the live wembley video though, ha. I knew I shouldn't have listened to that so much.
I still love the song but I'm a bit disappointed with the studio version. It sounds a bit too... over-processed? Charlie's voice doesn't sound as raw and the chorus isn't as hard hitting. The "live music video" honestly sounds better imo. Still happy though. Waited months for this song.
yeah the recorded version is weak vocally, especially Charlie's part. Shame. I can deal with the "live" version though, still adore the song.
no idea why these vocal takes were used. james has sang pretty terribly when ive seen him live but charlies chorus has always been spot on
I actually cannot get into the studio version. Like when the last chorus hits I keep expecting a big impact but it doesn't deliver and stays completely mellow. The production values just feels off. I'm missing the guitars. Maybe I need to stop listening to songs before their studio versions are released, haha.
Just grab the live version instead, I feel like it's actually a mix of the studio version and live takes. There's too many similarities for it just to be like but I feel like there's way more power in the vocals and the guitars are more prominent.
Oh, I'm liking this more than the other two songs. That live recording is better than the studio version, though - it's still pretty slick because they've touched it up and added back in some studio elements, but it feels a lot fuller than the studio version, especially during the final chorus. Also, the vocals are a bit better, probably because they've been touring the song for a while. I'll probably swap out the studio version for the audio of the YouTube video when I get the album.
Yeah, I'm really glad they did this live version because otherwise I'd have been so salty about the studio version.
Just heard that live(?) in purple studio film clip of Easy. My first time hearing it as I avoided all live fan footage of songs. I really like it. Charlie just can't get any better. He was really under untilised during their first stint as a band. My fave so far. Closest to a throwback song too.
Dig the new song not heard the album version yet but judging by what's been said the live is a better choice.
Apparently the album has been finished for months, and they mentioned not to expect a deluxe edition any time soon if at all. As for the fortnight delay, I recall reading that it was manufacturing related. If I had to guess I think they're already working loosely on a new record. They never really take a break from writing.
Looking at the album wiki page I notice a lot of songs are co-written by Lauren Christy. Which I recognised her name as part of the matrix who I love all their songs they wrote a decade ago. Also some dude who wrote Joan Osborne one of us did a few And Japanese bonus track + meet you there at abbey rd
Yeah the albums been done for a while. I could see them either starting work on new music while they have some time or maybe reinventing some old songs?
I'm sure Charles is at least already making new music for one project or another. His work ethic may have rubbed off on them
If I want to listen to all the best stuff Charlie has done outside of Busted and Fightstar, should I just listen to his solo albums? Or is there other stuff he's done too that I'd be missing? Dude's work ethic is insane.
Also I'm way too late to this discussion, but I think Behind the Devil's Back is an excellent album for what it's worth...
Start with solo, young pilgrim. Not much else other than the ep with his bros. Album meant so much to me while travelling overseas for a few months in 2012
