It's definitely a much better song than Coming Home, which I thought was kind of a trainwreck. I can't compare it to a single artist, but due to circumstances beyond my control I listen to a lot of mainstream radio for 30 year olds and it would definitely fit in there. Think the funky songs of 5 Seconds Of Summer meets Katy Perry meets some random Australian pop-rock one hit wonder, but with a slightly more interesting production. I actually think the sort of nostalgic autotune hook and the occasional, slightly off-sounding variations in beat are the best things about the song. The rest is very generic in my opinion, even though it is well crafted. It's a solid pop song, but it's not for me. I doubt this album will be for me, but that's fine, they should do what they feel like doing, I'm just not sure it's necessarily the smart thing to do.
I do agree that it'll fit in fine on mainstream radio and that it's pretty generic sounding though, ha.
Yeah I can see Daft Punk, but the Featuring Pharrel Daft Punk, not the Harder Better Faster Daft Punk.
I'm super into this. Charlie sounds exceptional as usual. Kind of reminds me of the previous two Hanson records actually - funky and anthemic whilst still maintaining underlying pop sensibilities. That sax!
Gah, you're teasing me with all this discussion, I can't find it anywhere! Will have to wait until midnight... Are there parts as anthemic as the Coming Home bridge?Or more light in tone? Seems like it sounds pretty current anyway - I'm hoping for a lot of that scrawly, electronic-sounding guitar sound like on the album trailer (on the album, not necessarily this song).
It's way less anthemic than Coming Home. It's a funky little bass/synth driven song with some sax at the end, ha.
Ha, looking forward to hearing it! Ideally the whole album has a pretty chilled-out, night-time vibe - I don't have any other albums to listen to like that apart from Day & Age by The Killers.
I'd like that vibe a lot, I think some songs will have that feel. This one's a little more upbeat/maybe a little dancey.. idk, I'm bad at describing music.
I can't find it for the life of me and I'm normally pretty good at interneting. All I can get is some stupid phineas and ferb song coming up!
