I do wish that teaser was just a tiny bit longer! Time's gonna move so slowly these next two months... But we'll probably have the first single + video come out around the start of October, hopefully that's the "epic song that Matt's more proud of than anything else he's done", not Coming Home :P
I wish they'd put out the single with the announcement. I don't get why they're waiting. Hopefully it's not too far off.
I know pretty much all of James' output post-Busted, but could anyone suggest an entry point into Fightstar's music? Eg. an album to start with? I've only heard the odd single and my favourite one so far is A City On Fire, which reminded me a bit of Biffy Clyro.
ooh, I can definitely help you there. I think I'd say go for One Day Son because it has a bit of everything. All four of their albums are fantastic though so you can't really go wrong with any of them.
I agree with SpyKi, One Day Son is the best place to start. "Our Last Common Ancestor" is on there and it's a strong contender for my favourite Fightstar song.
"Our Last Common Ancestor" is one of my favourites too. That "Tannhauser" and "Deathcar" are probably my top three on there.
I'd go with "Our Last Common Ancestor", "99" and "Amaze Us". It's difficult to choose though because every track is great and could be considered top-tier Fightstar material.
City on fire is great song. I'm actually going to go against the grain and say the debut album Grand Unification and Paint your Target, waste a moment songs. Only on the fact that it's the first album. But also seems to be most accessible and would be a natural progression into the more progressive music they evolve to with One Day and Be Human
OK, thanks for all the help re. Fightstar - I think I'll start with One Day Sun... and also take a look at their debut. A mix of their heaviest and poppiest/most melodic sounds great to me, as someone whose taste in music runs from Mika to RATM! About On What You're On - do you think the main lyrical theme is some sort of drug metaphor? Could be about achieving a certain kind of positive/euphoric mindset, hence the "We're standing on the same cloud" lyric tweet. Total speculation :P
Busted's new album is still quite far away, so if anyone wants some pop rock to tide them over, I'd strongly recommend checking out Swooner by The Zolas. It was released earlier this year and I'm a huge fan. As with Busted, it's more pop than rock/punk and it's great. I'm not saying they sound like Busted but I'd say their songs are just as catchy and memorable.
Much to the dismay of my friends, I liked the first two Busted albums. This one new song they posted is pretty bad though, if the whole albums sounds like that I'm not sure it's gonna work out for them. The wave of success they are riding now is nostalgia based, and nostalgic people aren't looking for something new. EDIT: That snippet is horrible.
I refuse to believe that snippet is real. Forget Future Boy, that could be a Future Toddler track. Please release the new single, or better yet send out my review copy so I can stop worrying.
Charlie would've walked out of the studio, changed his number, boarded a flight back to the UK and started a new solo record upon touching down it's that bad. New single will be available to purchase on Sept 30. Hopefully we get to hear it beforehand though.
Apparantly the single was originally supposed to be a remix but they liked it so much they made it the official version.
