Seeing these guys for the first time ever this Tuesday. Pretty excited about it. Going solo, got a reserved seat, and wearing my Bush t-shirt from Deconstructed-era. Finger's crossed they pay Warm Machine. That and Swallowed are probably my favorite Bush songs.
Ok....Man On The Run is not a bad album. Lots of good vocal melodies/choruses and lyrics. Only gripes are the songs are too long and I wish the production was a bit more raw like the first 4 albums. Broken In Paradise is really good.
The title track reminds me of Razorblade Suitcase with moody subdued verses and that mean sounding distortion they've got going.
Ok...Feeling pretty good about my personal preference of Bush discography: Golden State Science of Things Art of Survival Razorblade Suitcase Sixteen Stone The Kingdom I Beat Loneliness Man On The Run Sea of Memories Black and White Rainbows I'm very aware Sixteen Stone/Razorblade would sit at the top spot for many. I personally have a strong connection with SoT and Golden State as I really discovered their discography around when SoT was being released. I can see the new album climb a spot over time. Its still just too new to me. My 3-5 spots could honestly change any time. Earlier this week I went to our local record store and bought Golden State and Razorblade Suitcase (in-addition) on vinyl and also grabbed a used CD copy of Science of Things for $5. Great finds. Almost cleaned their Bush section out . The owner said a couple people came in the week prior and bought the new album and Art of Survival on vinyl. All they have left is the anniversary addition to Sixteen Stone. He thought it was the weirdest thing that people bought up Bush albums haha.
Studio version of Swallowed they’ve been playing on tour just came out and they did it justice. Still (probably) my favorite Bush song.
Great interview and actually ties a lot together given his career/life journey and his love for art. Sounds like a solid book too. Long interview, but it was not boring. Some excellent one-liners.
This is a hard question because I'm still not sure where the new album slots in. Other than that, ultimately not too different from yours, with a couple exceptions. I'm including Institute and his solo album too, for perspective, although I find all of his work to be enjoyable. Golden State Razorblade Suitcase (Distort Yourself) The Kingdom Man On The Run Sixteen Stone The Science Of Things The Art Of Survival The Sea Of Memories Black And White Rainbows (Wanderlust)
i randomly gave the new album a shot not that long ago, its not bad. sounds like what katatonias been doing on the last few albums. def better than i was expecting and sort of has me inclined to see what else is up. art of survival for sure i gotta check
Listened to Razorblade Suitcase today with the bonus tracks from the reissue. "Old" totally rules, I wonder why that was a B-side? I guess it doesn't fit the overall vibe of the album. Also I'm pretty sure "Broken TV" was a Sixteen Stone era b-side and I'm curious as to why that album was never reissued in a similar fashion.
