The weird thing about Stone's character saying she is 45 but uses a lot of anti-aging stuff is that she isn't even human in the first place so you would think she would pick an age that would draw less suspicion.
I don’t care about Emma’s character I can buy her presenting as 45 I cannot buy and don’t get Jesse’s character seemingly being in his 20s lol
watching the movie i didn't once think about Plemons being in his 20s. but maybe that's just a me thing
20s Jesse is strange but I might be able to get around it if not paired with the Stavros thing. The two compounded was needlessly distracting imo
i don't understand ppl needing actors to look their characters' age. i have no problem with the Stranger Things kids looking how they do in S5.
part of me wants to subject my future in-laws to this, but another part of me knows they're still mad about the time we showed them Nope, so this wouldn't play over well
i love my partner's family, but i've had to accept that they just don't have good taste in movies (my partner's step-father primarily watches Ancient Aliens in his spare time, and said one of his more recent favorite movies was Venom), and that they've maybe only liked one movie we've shown them. i think nearly every movie we've watched with them that hasn't been one of our recommendations has either been forgettable Netflix slop or a lowbrow blockbuster or romcom (or something adjacent - his sister is the only reason i've seen It Ends With Us).
That's funny because NOPE seems up the alley of an Ancient Aliens enjoyer, and beyond that, it's not like a particularly abstract or artsy movie lol. Bummer - showing them Bugonia would be hilarious
yeah, i don't really get the cognitive dissonance either. at least Nope felt like it had a more "conventional" ending for their standards. i think they'd actively hate how Bugonia plays out.
I wouldnt bother trying to expand their horizons but there are plenty of cross over classics for normies and cinephiles to enjoy. Heat, Wolf of Wall Street, Alien, Inglorious Bastards etc for the Dad, the rom coms are a bit tricker but id just aim for actors the sister likes
i'm pretty sure he's seen at least a couple of them, he just doesn't like anything that strays too far from convention. hard to think of actors his sister likes, but she was watching Pluribus at the same time as us, so at least that's one good thing
My friends weren't really into horror when i started showing them horror movies--and they still aren't--but they at least acknowledged that the films i chose were good. they were able to appreciate Nope, even tho it might've traumatized them a little bit, hah...
