Seen gun ads a few times recently, not a fan of it. I know you don't pick it, but can you flag it? Felt eerie in the hip hop thread about the feud escalating
I wrote a little about the state of the website and the ad industry, in general, a few times over the past few years. So I don't want to rehash that too much. The (Not So) Annual State of Chorus.fm https://forum.chorus.fm/posts/5046087 The short answer is I know the ads suck. I wish I could remove them. But they still make enough money on a regular basis that the website needs them for me to make up for increasing costs and the time and energy it takes to run it. My recommendation will always be that the ad free version of the website is my vision of the website, and what I think it should be. And if that's not doable (chorus.fm/support), I honestly don't begrudge anyone that runs a content blocker to just block all the ads on the website. It's absolutely a better experience and I get it. (But if you’re gonna pay for a good one of those, the lowest plan here is a damn good deal imo + you get dark mode.) Hope this shines a little light on the situation and why it is what it is.
I know this isn't technically a bug report, but is there any way to de-couple display preferences from the account level? i.e. I'd like the website to be always dark on my PC but automatic on my smartphone
The home page won't acknowledge I'm logged in and is both a) still showing ads and b) not in dark mode. However, if I click on community I am still logged in with all my settings correct and no ads, but only in the forums. I tried logging in multiple times on the home page, no change. This is just on mobile (Android, Chrome, Samsung Galaxy A14 5G). Update: Nevermind, clearing the cache fixed it!
I'm not sure if this qualifies as a "bug," but is there any way to have the article discussion hover previews skip the html and the "This article has been imported from..." text to instead display the main article text? The way they currently work is more visual clutter than anything useful:
@Jason Tate my supporter status has randomly changed, no idea why. I’ve tried logging out and back in.
Doesn’t look like my August payment has gone through. I changed payment methods but the renewal date is the 25th so why would it change now in the middle of the day a week later. I’ll try to just sign up again
Yeah I just signed up again. Didn’t even notice the August payment hadn’t gone through. Sorry for bothering!
Mod-specific, but I sometimes have the ability to mark/delete posts as Spam and other times, that option doesn't appear. Is there a reason for that?
It seems as though I cannot send PMs. Is this intended behaviour? When I click "Send a Message" after clicking on a user I get this: I've tried several devices (mix of Windows 11 and Mac), and several browsers (Firefox, Chrome, & Edge) all with the same results. Help?
Thank you for the reply! My profile says "Member Since: Dec 23, 2024" and, while I only have 6 posts, it seems counterintuitive to also require 15 posts before sending a PM after such a period of time and 'good' activity on the board. Because now, in order to be able to send a PM that's time sensitive, you're essentially telling me I'd have to find a reason to post 6 more times in short order. That's beginning to sound a lot like SPAM, no?
Ok guy. Why do you need to send a PM if you’re only 6 posts deep? Sounds like you made a profile to send a PM….
My recommendation would be to ... not spam? We do not let people just start DM'ing people without various checks and making sure people look actually like real users of our community.
Well...instead of guessing you could try checking my profile. In doing so you can see my posts, follow my interactions on the board, and very well see that I didn't make a profile to send a PM. But, hey, it's far easier to make vague accusations and assumptions. See how that works?
