Would be curious to know if they'll acknowledge anything that happened in the comics after the show was over since they're considered canon?
I seriously doubt it lol, those comics are fucking *insane*. I read one season of them and gave up when Angel killed Giles and Giles got reincarnated as a teenager (I wish I was joking)
I….concur lol. I think I remember reading some other storyline that happened (maybe it was Dawn and Xander being a thing) that kind of turned me off.
Yes, this part I do remember. I think the only thing I ever really appreciated was the "sorta" resurrection of Fred sharing her body with Illyria. I hated the death of Fred and always hoped she'd return somehow.
I hated all the death undoing they did in those comics. like a little bit is fine but bringing back Warren, Spike and the Master etc was just so silly. the only fanservice bit I liked was Oz rocking up as a monk or whatever Fred's death is super sad but it's arguably one of the best episodes in either show as well
Yeah, the death episode is devastating and definitely an all timer, but god I just love her character so much and it feels so unfair. Life's not fair, etc. but damn.
I’d still like to see Angel in some capacity, I’d be fine with him suddenly being able to age again through some sorcery.
He did, yeah, unfortunately. He had a sexual harassment lawsuit levied against him for his behavior on the set of Bones, and he’s also posted some…weird, upsetting shit on his socials.
Did not know that, sigh never mind. He was my favorite back when it aired but should have known better, never trust your “heroes”.
also did not know that about Boreanaz, that sucks! hopefully he's not involved then I'm definitely thinking about this way too much today lol, but I hope they bring back some of the original writers who aren't shitheads. Marti Noxon and Jane Espenson for example had a big part in making the show what it was, it would be cool to see them back
The Angel character was really good. The puppet episode in the spin-off is still one of the best of the franchise
the whole final season of Angel is absolutely peak. really made up for the Connor season before it lol
My wife had never seen either show before so I got her started on Buffy and then once Angel started I had us shifting back and forth between the two so that I could keep her up with the crossovers, which was a lot of fun. Made me feel like I was watching it for the first time again seeing it through her eyes and it was nice to share that with someone. Anyway, we got to the Connor season and she was promptly like “what the hell is this.”
I genuinely have almost never hated a character as much as adult Connor lol. I still can't believe they brought back Darla for.... that
One of my favorite moments rewatching it with someone who hadn’t seen either show before was the season four finale, the dream episode, when Faith says “Little sister’s coming,” and my wife had no idea what it meant. All the little foreshadowing hints layered throughout are fun to pick up on (Tara’s “Be back before Dawn”, Faith’s “Counting down from 730”, etc.) and kind of gave me the chills knowing they were planting the seeds for this big event that would change the show and the person sitting next to me just didn’t see it coming. Made me excited for her to experience it. It was funny when Dawn just showed up the next season as if she always existed and everyone had their memories altered and my wife was sitting there like “what the fuck is going on”. Ahh, so great. I remember Dawn’s presence being such a divisive thing amongst fans but I just loved Michelle Trachtenberg so I didn’t care because I was just excited to see her join the show back then, ha.
Dug my old dvds out recently so i think it’s time for another rewatch. Feels mad that i’ve been watching this show since i was about 8 years old, might be the most consistent i’ve been about anything in my life haha
