I'm watching this show for the first time in my life (????????????????????I KNOW???) and I feel like I needed this in my childhood.
Is Xander this stupid throughout the whole series or just these first two episodes? Also the line about not being man enough I was like oh yeah this was the 90's.
His personality and..... Xanderness stay pretty similar, but they tone down a lot of his worst characteristics. Some of it is super dated for sure though, so yeah be ready for that.
I need to unsubscribe from this thread before I'm tempted to do a full series rewatch. I just did Angel a few months ago.
Buffy rules. She comes into the series having already been a slayer for ~year, is confident, sassy, doesn't really give a fuck, and strong. I'm loving how she goes hunting one night and Giles is like "after you assured me you wouldn't" and she's like "yes I lied I'm a bad person move on" lmao. Like no shits given. I feel like so many shows do the whole "she's just discovering her powers! now let's spend 2 season developing this protagonist's confidence" thing and this completely subverts that. I'm so here for it.
Wife and i watched this for the first time last fall, thoroughly enjoyed it. Flipped a coin to see if we’d rewatch it again or rewatch twin peaks, and Buffy won.
Just wanted to recommend the podcast Buffering The Vampire Slayer especially if anyone is just starting a rewatch. I could write multiple paragraphs on what that podcast means to me but I can promise that the hosts, Jenny and Kristin, did a truly amazing job covering the series over 6 years. After they finished with Buffy last year they're now doing an X-Files podcast but have promised to cover the new Buffy audio series that's starting soon.
They had a spinoff Angel podcast called Angel On Top hosted by friends of theirs that started when they reached the episode where Angel left Sunnydale. I believe that show just posted their final episode a few weeks ago.
'Buffy The Vampire Slayer' Reboot With Sarah Michelle Gellar At Hulu Bless @jkauf for breaking this in the horror thread
Chloe directing definitely has my attention piqued, interesting stuff. kinda curious if anyone else from the original run will return because Boreanaz looks too old to still play the part, Marsters went out on a perfect note that they shouldn't mess with and they're not gonna touch Brendon with a ten-foot pole. at the most I could see some small Willow and Giles cameos and the rest being an all-new cast? maybe Faith too at a push?
