Buddy Nielsen of Senses Fail is singing in a new band with members of Finch, called Speak the Truth, that apparently sounds like “2002.” Yes it's with members of @OfficialFinch and sounds like 2002 called @speakthetruthca https://t.co/pYIPOUoHTS — Buddy Nielsen (@buddythechud) May 17, 2016 Expand - View Original
Excited for this and hope this is more of a group effort. I heard Buddy wrote most of the music for the last Senses Fail album, which is why the music was lacking on an instrumental side even though it was the same band that played on the amazing Renacer.
I think Senses Fail needs to step back and reevaluate. Renacer was amazing, that last album was not. It lacked so much focus, and yes it's crazy to think that the same musicians played on the new one are the same that played on Renacer. I'm all about maturity and growth, and I hope that Buddy/SF continues down that path, instead of the regression shown on Pull The Thorns From Your Heart. With all that said, I'm cautiously optimistic about this new band.
I'm always excited to check out stuff from Buddy. Wasn't a huge fan of the past couple SF albums so I really wanna like this.
I don't know if what I said made sense, but this is what I meant to say! I agree with being happy that he made the album he needed to make with Thorns, but the band definitely took a back seat which is a shame because they are so talented.
Apparently per Buddy's Twitter, the next SF record will be less heavy. Along with that he wants to do more Bayonet hardcore stuff too.
Damn, trouble in the Finch camp? I saw Randy post on his fb bout bringing back some old band of his so....?
Good because Thorns was pretty lousy in my opinion minus a couple tracks. This is coming from a guy who absolutely LOVES Renacer too so I'm not some old school fan unwilling to let go of the old shit hah.
Perfectly said. 100% agree. Also Buddy supposedly wrote all the guitar parts so that might be part of the reason too..
I saw Finch play at the one-off Taste of Chaos festival last year in San Bernardino, and Randy wasn't playing with the band. They did it as a 4 piece, with Nate playing some guitar. Whatever the thing is between Randy and Finch, it isn't "new."
Damn that sucks. Randy was such a key member in the movement to get the band alive again both times.. I know he got married so I wonder if he wanted time off for that? Hopefully the band resolves things and gets back in the studio.
Anyone that listens to the 100 Words or Less podcast can listen to an episode Buddy was on about a couple weeks ago and he talks a little bit about this project as well.
