BTS have the number one album in the country this week.

Map of the Soul: 7 storms in atop the tally with 422,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending Feb. 27, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data. Of that sum, 347,000 are in album sales. It’s the fourth No. 1 in less than two years for the seven-member South Korean pop group.

Those are pretty impressive album sales, especially for a non-English act.

  4. Those are impressive for any type of artists, especially in today's climate. That number is twice as big of a sales week as Taking Back Sunday's best week ever and three times the size of Underoath's best.

And that's all without the concert ticket/album redemption shit that has skewed a lot of numbers over the past few years. Very impressive!

Selling 300,000+ physical copies is pretty unreal.

wrap yourself in petals for armor.

The way they package k-pop albums is so smart. Adding different photocards/extras encouraging people to buy more than one copy - I say as somebody who has bought more than one version of multiple k-pop albums. Definitely helps boosts their sales to incredible numbers.

Back when I worked at Target, whenever we'd roll out a new BTS album they'd come with like 4 or 5 different versions and people would come in and buy every single version and sometimes even multiples of them. They definitely know what they're doing.
